Trevor Lawrence, the highly-touted quarterback out of Clemson, has yet to take a snap in the NFL, but that hasn’t stopped oddsmakers from speculating on his future success.

According to recent reports, Lawrence’s odds of winning the 2023 NFL MVP award are among the highest in the league.

CBS Sports labelled Lawrence as the best bet with 16-1 odds to win the MVP with the best betting sites.

The judgment between Lawrence and Lamar Jackson (14-1) was made based on a noteworthy statistic mentioned on the Pick Six Podcast by John Breech. The MVP tends to come from a division winner, which gave Trevor Lawrence the edge. Although Jackson is now in a Todd Monken offense, credit must be given to Greg Roman for producing the 2019 unanimous MVP Jackson. However, Jackson’s odds were much better before his contract was signed. He faces intense competition in a tough division with a rising Bengals team, a sleeper Steelers squad, and a potentially strong Browns team.

While predicting a player’s success several years in advance may seem premature, Lawrence’s college career suggested that he has all the tools to excel professionally. During his three seasons at Clemson, Trevor Lawrence threw for over 10,000 yards and 90 touchdowns while leading the Tigers to two national championship games and one title.

But what makes Trevor Lawrence a strong candidate for future MVP honors?

For starters, his physical attributes are off the charts. At 6’6″ and 220 pounds, Lawrence has the size and strength to withstand the rigors of an NFL season. He also possesses a strong arm, quick release, and excellent accuracy, all of which are essential traits for a successful quarterback.

But Lawrence’s success isn’t just due to his physical prowess. He’s also a student of the game, known for his work ethic and dedication to improving his craft. In interviews, coaches and teammates alike praised Trevor Lawrence’s football IQ and ability to read defenses and make quick decisions on the field.

Of course, there are no guarantees in the NFL. Even the most talented players can struggle with injuries, poor coaching, or a lack of supporting talent. But Lawrence’s early success at Clemson, combined with his physical gifts and mental acuity, make him a tantalizing prospect for NFL teams and fans alike.

On a recent episode of ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith picked Lawrence as the quarterback to make the most significant leap this season. Lawrence already made a considerable jump from his rookie season to his sophomore season, increasing his touchdown total by +13 and decreasing his interceptions by -9.

So, what do the oddsmakers say about Lawrence’s chances of winning the 2023 NFL MVP award?

As of this writing, he’s listed at +800, tied with Patrick Mahomes for the second-best odds behind only reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers. While it’s still too early to say whether Lawrence will live up to these lofty expectations, it’s clear that he has the potential to be one of the league’s top players for years to come.

Of course, there are other factors that will impact Lawrence’s chances of winning the MVP award. He’ll need to stay healthy, for one thing, and he’ll need to have a strong supporting cast around him. He’ll also need to play for a team that prioritizes winning over individual stats, as MVP voters tend to favor players on successful teams.

But if Lawrence can continue to develop his skills and succeed at the NFL level, there’s no reason he can’t be a legitimate MVP candidate in 2023 and beyond. For fans of the Jaguars or any other team that drafts him, that’s an exciting prospect.
