Denver Broncos defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike is the latest NFL player to be banned for violating the league’s gambling policies after he was found to be betting on league games during his rookie season in 2022.

The 25-year-old will be out of action for at least a year, and can only petition for reinstatement no earlier than 24 July 2024.
There has been a number of NFL stars banned for similar violations in recent months. In April, five players were banned and in June a further three players got banned ahead of the new season.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley missed the 2022 season for also violating gambling policies, but was reinstated in March.
Broncos released a statement on Uwazurike: “Our organisation fully co-operated with this investigation and takes matters pertaining to the integrity of the game very seriously,
“The Denver Broncos will continue to provide all members of our organisation with the necessary education, resources and support to ensure compliance with the NFL’s gambling policy.”
NFL Gambling Policies
NFL players and staff are not allowed to gamble while in NFL facilities, disclose any nonpublic NFL information, enter a sportsbook during the NFL season, or maintain any social, business or personal relationships with sports gamblers.
However, they are permitted to place non-sports wagers at legally operated casinos and horse or dog racing tracks in their personal time, including during the NFL season.
