Question: How do you assess Aaron Ramsdale’s progress since joining Arsenal?

David Seaman: “He had a great season and he’s getting better every season as well. And soon he’s really going to be pushing for the England No.1 spot.”

Q: Top 3 Premier League goalkeepers in order?

DS: “1. Ederson 2. Alisson. 3. Ramsdale. Aaron’s learning. He’s got everything he needs to be a really top goalkeeper. He’s got ability, athleticism, he’s got everything he needs. It’s just about getting more consistent.”

Q: Who should Arsenal sign before the end of the window?

DS: “Positional wise I think we need more cover in central defence. We saw last year how much losing Saliba affected us but don’t ask me what player because I’ve got no idea. Kiwior has looked good and will be learning in training but I still think we need one more. Saliba signed his new contract which is great and Saka as well, because I remember the time when Arsenal used to sell their best player every summer. Emile Smith Rowe had a long injury last season so him coming back is hopefully going to be like a new signing because we all know what he’s capable of and he’s getting more experienced. Things are exciting now at Arsenal.”

Q: Should Arsenal go in for Mbappe? (Could Wenger persuade Mbappe to join?)

DS: “I don’t think Arsenal have the money to make that happen. That’s not the Arsenal way either. If Mbappe goes to Saudi Arabia at his young age I’d be really surprised because he’s still got a lot to prove and a lot to achieve in the game. If I was a betting man my money would be on him joining Real Madrid next.”
