Betway Confirmed As Major League Cricket Sponsor

Major League Cricket (MLC) begins it’s inaugural season today as the T20 series gets underway. The T20 cricket series, which will be known as ‘Major League Cricket Powered by Betway’, kicks off today and will run until the 31st July.

Ahead of the inaugural season, Betway have been confirmed as an official sponsor. The UK bookie and online casino platform are one of the biggest names in sports betting, and will be the main sponsor of the T20 cricket series across the next 18 days.

Anthony Werkman, CEO of Betway, had this to say about the new partnership between Betway and the MLC:

“It’s with great pride to announce that we’re powering the inaugural Major League Cricket; the newest innovative cricket competition in the world.

“Cricket is a globally renowned sport both we and our customers love, so we’re thrilled to be part of another new competition, which will aid the growth of the sport in the US and beyond.”

How Will MLC Work?

The new T20 cricket series gets underway today, with matches held in two different venues across America. The Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and the Church Street Park in North Carolina will host all matches in the Major League Cricket series.

A total of six teams are set to compete in the series: MI New York, Los Angeles Knight Riders, Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, Washington Freedom and San Francisco Unicorns. These six teams will play 18 matches to decide who will play in the MLC Championship Final at the end of July.

Co-Founder of Major League Cricket, Sameer Mehta, is excited about the upcoming MLC series and it’s partnership with UK bookie Betway:

“Major League Cricket is bringing the world’s best cricketers to America, so it is fitting that the historic inaugural season will be ‘Powered by Betway,’ who have become a renowned brand supporting global sports properties.

“We are thrilled by Betway’s commitment to growing cricket in America and we can’t wait for a memorable season to get underway soon.”

Elsewhere in the cricket world, Dafabet was announced as the Official Betting Partner for the upcoming Cricket West Indies series.
