Top-tier football teams spend millions of euros on their players, driving the club’s market value to impressive figures. However, in the world of football, one club name stands out.

According to data presented by Fair Betting Sites, Manchester City is the only football club in the world valued at more than €1bn.

The World’s Most Valuable Football Club and the Second-Largest Brand in Football World

Since being taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group four years ago, Manchester City’s rise has been astronomical. The huge cash injection enabled the club to attract big names, and titles soon followed.

This year, the club spent €145 million during the summer transfer window to strengthen their squad and signed five players for the first team. One of them, the new generation superstar, Erling Haaland, became the highest-valued player in Premier League, with a valuation of €150 million.

However, statistics show three out of the five most expensive players in England’s top-flight league play in Manchester City. With a market value of €90 million, midfielder Phil Foden is Premier League’s third most valuable player. His teammate, Kevin De Bruyne, follows, with €85 million.

Besides becoming the most valuable football team globally, Manchester City also grew into the second-largest brand in the football world. After reporting the highest revenue in the football betting industry in 2021, Manchester City’s brand value jumped by 18.7% YoY to €1.32bn in 2022, placing the club ahead of last year’s runner-up Barcelona FC.

Manchester City Worth €220M More than Real Madrid

Aside from being the only football club worth more than one billion euros, Manchester City’s market value stands high above some other giant football names.

As the leading brand in the football industry, valued at €1.52bn as of this year, Real Madrid ranked as the sixth most-valuable club in 2022. According to TransferMarkt data, the market value of the Spanish club now stands at €837.5 million, or €220 million less than Manchester City. Another top-tier Spanish football club, FC Barcelona, is valued €247 million less than the Premier League club.

With a market value of €925 million, Liverpool FC ranked as the world’s second most valuable football club. Paris Saint-Germain follows, with €890.3 million, respectively.
