For the third successive year, UK bookie Virgin Bet have renewed it’s sponsorship of the Ayr Golf Cup Festival. The huge horse racing event in Scotland takes place in September, with Virgin Bet once again the main sponsors of the meeting.
Virgin Bet Renews Sponsorship Of Ayr Gold Cup
For a third successive year, Virgin Bet will continue to sponsor the Ayr Gold Cup Festival. The announcement was made by Ayr racecourse, who revealed their partnership with Virgin Bet for the Ayr Gold Cup Festival in September would continue.
The featured race of the Festival at Ayr racecourse in September, the Virgin bet Ayr Gold Cup, has recently been won by the likes of Bielsa in 2021 and Summerghand last year. The race has a current value of £180,000, but it is expected that the improved prize money for the main event will improve competition among competitors.
Virgin Bet are one of the most popular sports betting sites in the UK, with an extensive online sportsbook which covers a wide range of sports as well as horse racing.
What makes the Ayr Gold Cup Festival unique is the fact that it is the only racecourse in Great Britain that hosts the Gold Cup, Silver Cup and Bronze Cup respectively. This gives horses who didn’t qualify for the main event (Gold Cup) a chance to compete over the same course and distance in the Silver or Bronze Cup.
The three-day Festival begins on Thursday 21 September, with the Virgin Bet Kilkerran Cup the main event on the opening day. This was won by the Mick and David Easterby-trained Yorkshire Lady last year, with jockey Joanna Mason in the saddle.
Ladies’ Day is on Friday 22 September, with the Virgin Bet Bronze Cup the main event. The UK bookie will also sponsor the three important supporting races on Gold Cup day on Saturday 23 September, as well as the featured race too.
Virgin Bet Managing Director, Ric Leask, had this to say on the renewed partnership between the sports betting site and the Ayr Gold Cup Festival:
“We are delighted to be sponsoring the Ayr Gold Cup for the third successive year. We are proud to be a part of such quality racing.”
Ayr Managing Director, David Brown, added: “We’re delighted to be renewing our Ayr Gold Cup partnership with Virgin Bet for a third year and owners and trainers will be excited to hear that the prize money for the race is being increased to £180,000.”
