The British Horseracing Authority are seeking a “culturally diverse” input from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds working in the industry to share their thoughts and opinions.
BHA Seek Diverse Input On Horse Racing
The Racing Foundation have put together a short survey form which is now open and completely anonymous, with the BHA seeking experiences of the industry. It will run until May 31st, with results published at a later date.
BHA Chief Executive Julie Harrington spoke out on the survey: “Racing is a global sport and we are proud that talented individuals from around the world and from numerous diverse backgrounds here in Britain have, for many years, chosen to pursue a career in racing.”
The research will be managed by Plan4Sport and Inside Inclusion, with both parties being experts on diversity and inclusion in the sporting world. They are also clued up on horse racing diversity, so the research is certainly in the right hands.
Feedback provided through the survey will aid the BHA in identifying areas for improvement and support efforts to make sure racing is a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
The survey is open to all people working within British racing, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. Meanwhile those who have worked with or overseen the experiences of their ethnically diverse colleagues are also advised to get involved with the research.
Tansy Challis, Chief Executive of the Racing Foundation commented: “At the Racing Foundation, we recognise the importance of improving our sport’s diversity and inclusion of people and communities from all backgrounds.
“Only by listening and learning from people’s lived experience can we take appropriate action to create sustainable change in the industry.
“It is crucial that we understand the challenges and barriers being faced and also identify good practice. We are delighted to support the survey and urge anyone working in racing to participate.“
