The original pot came in at a value of £100,000 during Betfair Chase day in November 2023 and the betting operator added £5,000 for each of Blackmore’s winning runners.
She has now raised £250,000 through the Betfair’s Serial Winners Fund, with all of the money going to a variety of charitable causes.
A further £10,000 was added to the pot after Blackmore’s triumphs at Cheltenham Festival, winning the Supreme on Slade Steel and Champion Chase – with the exciting horse, Captain Guinness.
The total number finished on £210,000 during the races at Aintree and ended during the long-awaited Grand National.
This rose to £250,ooo after Betfair added another £40,000 to reach the final tally and will now go towards the Injured Jockeys Fund and Irish Injured Jockeys.
Blackmore was in a great position to reign victorious during the Grand National, after gaining with Gold Cup winner, Minella Indo – but it was not a glorious ending for the jockey.
The 11-year-old horse was unable to keep the pace up and iconic jockey, Willie Mullins soared to victory on I Am Maximus.
She has previously won the Grand National, clinching the win in 2021 on Minella Times and Blackmore’s triumph came off the course with such remarkable charity work.
Blackmore was full of praise for the work done by Betfair and believes it will help jockeys in other aspects away from racing.
She said: “The Serial Winners Fund was an incredible initiative run by Betfair throughout the season in support of the Injured Jockeys Fund in Ireland and UK, it’s one that I am very proud to have been a part of.
“This really is a substantial donation, generously topped up by Betfair, and will support the vital work they carry out helping jockeys in all areas of their lives.”
