Best Golf Betting Sites Reviews

We’re now going to focus on the golf bookmakers at the top end of our list of recommendations, with some in-depth reviews.

1. Betstorm Golf Betting – Live Multiview View for Tournaments In-Play

Betstorm is one of the leading new golf betting sites in the UK

Launched in 2021, Betstorm has already managed to become a favourite with golf fans. We particularly like their live section, which contains the ability to check out the future calendar and results. You can also use their Live Multiview function to highlight several live markets at once from different events, which is useful at weekends when there’s lots of different golf tournaments on.

With competitive odds, plenty of golf markets a nice system for simple accumulator creation, Betstorm has so much to offer golf bettors. New users will get their opening bet 100% matched, while for existing customers, there are betting tournaments like Wager Wars and the chance to get a £20 free bet every Monday. This is now just one of the latest golf betting websites, but in our opinion, the best.

What we like:

  • £20 free bet every Monday
  • Live Multiview option for in-play golf
  • Wager Wars betting tournament
  • Simple accumulator creation

What we don’t:

  • No dedicated betting app as yet

2. BetUK Golf Betting – Covering All Bases on the Tee

BetUK is another of the leading golf betting sites

British-focused bookie BetUK prioritises the sports that we love, which of course includes golf. Their dedicated section covers all the big future events, along with the smaller tournaments that take place each week. Odds and market coverage don’t disappoint and this is true for both pre-event bets and those in the live section.

Bet Builder and Cash Out facilities are available, as is live streaming. With dedicated mobile apps also ready to download, BetUK really do have all the main features covered. New users will get their initial bet trebled, while there are also free bet deals every week, an Acca Club and daily enhanced odds offers, which can often include golf bets.

What we like:

  • Great golf coverage
  • Bet Builder and Cash Out
  • BetUK Acca Club available
  • Great mobile apps

What we don’t:

  • Not enough payment methods are supported

3. XtremeWin Golf Betting – The Choice for Top Finish Markets

Xtremewin are another of the top new golf betting sites you can wager with in the UK

XtremeWin was only launched in 2022, but already has a product that golf punters will love. We were very impressed with the range of golf markets that were available, including various top finish options, and the strength of the odds. Live betting gets its own section, with a link at the top of the homepage, with a results page and the ability to look up when future events will be covered.

When you open an account and bet £10, you’ll get £30 in free bets as a new customer. Once your account is up and running, you can take advantage of the XtremeWin Free Bet Club and regular odds boosts for golf and other sports. As you would expect with such a modern brand, they have an eye on the future, with virtual betting and eSports available.

What we like:

  • Lots of golf markets
  • Generous welcome offer
  • Boosted odds deals
  • Free bet club

What we don’t:

  • Quirky design takes some time to get used to

4. Rhino Golf Betting – Great Option for Price Boosts

Rhino Bet are one of the new golf betting sites punters should wager with

Rhino hit the betting scene in 2020 and are another fine choice for golf bettors. We found that the top tournaments and tour events were covered in a very satisfactory manner, with plenty of markets and strong odds. The site design makes finding your golf wager very easy, whether you’re betting before the first tee off or after, with the live section.

There are apps for iOS and Android devices, for those that want the convenience of using their mobile phone or tablet. New customers get their first bet 100% matched and 25 free spins to use at the online casino. There are not as many ongoing betting offers for existing customers as at other bookies, but golf fans will enjoy the daily price boosts.

What we like:

  • Daily price boosts
  • Slick design
  • Strong golf betting odds
  • iOS and Android apps

What we don’t:

  • Could have more promotions for existing user

5. LiveScore Bet Golf Betting – Wager on All Competitions

LiveScore Bet are one of the more underrated golf betting sites in the UK

You may have heard of the name LiveScore Bet from their popular sports scores website that has been running for many years, which has also branched out to live streaming and news. The gambling arm of this brand launched in 2020 and has quickly established itself as a quality operator. With a site design that is refreshingly unfussy, it’s easy to find the golf section, which includes a wide range of specials, such as whether particular golfers will win a major in the next year.

The in-play section is comprehensive and as you might expect from a bookie with this background, comes complete with live scores and streaming. There is a also good range of competitions to bet on for golf. New customers get £20 in free bets when they sign up and bet £10. There are a good number of promotions for existing users, with their weekly free acca bet offer, an example of one that can be used with golf.

What we like:

  • 200% welcome offer bonus
  • Lots of golf specials
  • Live streaming and latest scores
  • Weekly free acca bet deal

What we don’t:

  • White text on black background can be hard on the eyes

How we Rank Golf Bookmakers

You’ve seen our rankings and may be wondering how we came to our decisions on our favourite golf bookies. Here is the criteria that we consider to be important.

  1. Bonuses & Promotions

You’ll have noticed that all of our recommended sites all give generous welcome bonuses, that will give you plenty of extra money to play with in your new account. We also consider a regular stream for promotions for existing users to be important. If they’re specific to golf, all the better and there tends to be plenty of those type of deals available, around the time of big tournaments and events.
  2. Golf Extras

The latest golf betting websites can be packed with extra features, that make wagering on the sport, much easier. Bet Builder and Cash Out are two betting features that can really make a difference. Live streaming allows you to watch the latest golf action while you bet. Then there’s mobile apps, which are important for anyone that likes to bet when you’re out and about.
  3. Markets & Odds For Golf

Perhaps the most important factor is the range of markets and the competitiveness of the golf betting odds. We want to see a packed schedule of golf tournaments covered throughout the year, with real market depth where a high percentage are turned in-play when the action starts. We believe that we have picked out the sportsbooks which can offer you some of the best golf prices around.
  4. Payment Options

If you’re going to place a bet, you’ll have to first deposit some money. Equally, if you’re lucky enough to back some winners at golf tournaments, you’ll want to make a withdrawal. Either way, you’ll want access to a wide variety of convenient, reliable payment options. From debit cards, to eWallets and even cryptocurrencies, our recommended bookies will have you covered.
  5. Security & Safety

When you use an online sportsbook you entrust them with all sorts of valuable information. This includes payment details and your personal information. All of the bookies that we feature, are fully licensed with reputable regulatory bodies and utilise the latest security technology.

Most Popular Golf Betting Markets

There are a wide range of markets available when you place golf bets. Here are some of the most popular ones that you can expect to see.

  • Tournament Winner – When you click on a golf tournament at an online bookmaker, this is likely to be the first market you see. Who will win the tournament in question.
  • Each Way Bet – With so many players competing at golf events, picking an outright winner is tough. With an each way wager, you have two bets. One on which player will win and one for the player to place within the top few positions on the leaderboard. The place terms can differ between sites and for different events.
  • Forecast Bet – Where you back two golfers to finish first and second in a set order for a tournament. Your unit stake doubles for the popular Dual Forecast wager, which is the two in any order.
  • Top 5 /10 / 20 Finish – This type of bet ignores the winner and just tasks you to pick out a player that will finish in the top positions. Bookies will allow you to bet on players finishing in the top 5, 10 or 20 places, for example.
  • Round Leader – Golf tournaments see players competing over a series of rounds, which each comprise of 18 holes. So you can bet on who will be the leader after each round.
  • To Make / Miss the Cut – As each round of the rounds of golf are completed in a tournament are completed, the lowest scoring players are cut. You can bet on if a player will make the cut or miss the cut.
  • Hole in One – If a player hits the ball off the tee with his first shot and it goes straight into the hole, then it is a hole in one. This is obviously a relatively rare occurrence and can only really happen on short holes, so the odds of this event occurring in a tournament can be quite big.
  • Golf Match Bets – Bookies will group together a number of golfers of a similar standard, within a market. You can then bet on which one will be more successful, either in a round, or a tournament as a whole. This is a popular type of bet to include in a golf accumulator.
  • Top Nationality – Rather than picking out the winner of an event, you can bet on the nationality of the winner. This can give you several good golfers to root for. So with The Open golf betting for example, you could bet for the UK being the top nationality, allowing you to cheer on all the British golfers.

Best Golf Betting Apps

With a golf tournament being spread across four days of play, in which the action starts in the morning and can end in the early evening, having freedom to place your bets is imperative. It’s unrealistic to expect to be able to able to have access to your home computer for four whole days, which will nearly always include the weekend, when you want to be out having fun.

The ability to be able to wager on your mobile through betting apps allows you to manage your position and place fresh in play golf betting, regardless whether you are at work or leisure. The latter may include being a spectator at the golf tournament that you’re betting on, or even when you’re playing a round yourself! While betting through a mobile browser is a decent option, we’d always recommend using a dedicated app, when available.

As well as being more secure, they tend to be faster and of course, are specifically designed for use with the smaller screen of a mobile device. Our recommended app for placing golf bets is BetUK because of how user friendly it is:

Top Site for Live Golf Betting

As mentioned in the above section, a golf tournament typically lasts for four days of play, creating many hours of action. It is therefore a sport which is perfect for live betting. From the bookmaker’s perspective, they can often have more time to accept bets on the event once it has started, than they did beforehand.

Golf betting live gives you so many opportunities to win. It’s a sport where the leader of a tournament can find themselves quickly off the pace, if they have a particularly bad time at a hole. With big swings in the momentum, the odds change quickly and when you’re betting live, you have the chance to take advantage.

There are even plenty of exclusive markets to bet on, which are not available pre-event. Our favourite site for golf betting in play is Betstorm, thanks to some great live graphics and rapidly updating live markets.

Effective Golf Betting Systems

If you’re new to gambling on this sport then you may be looking for some kind of golf betting system, that can make the process easier. Here are some points to consider.

Spread the Wealth

If you just back one player to win a tournament each week, then it’s unlikely that you’ll make much money from gambling on golf. Tournaments have big fields and picking out the winner is difficult. It makes sense to spread your bets across a number of different players that you fancy to do well. You can also increase your chances of seeing a return, by betting each way on the winners market, or to simply back players in the place markets. Picking out a winner is a lottery, whereas finding players that are merely likely to do well at a certain tournament, is a more realistic prospect.

Utilise Match Betting

Rather than betting on how players will fare over an entire tournament, it can sometimes make more sense to stick to markets which deliver a quicker verdict. You can bet on how players will perform over a round and a market that we particularly like are the match bets. Being able to bet on whether a player will be able to beat two or three competitors is obviously a lot easier than predicting how they’ll get on against 100 or more. The odds are shorter, but you can carefully put together an accumulator of likely winners, to deliver a bigger price.

Outsiders Can Give Value

Don’t always be drawn towards the favourites at golf tournaments. There can be outsiders available at big prices that can deliver greater value. Just because a golfer is not consistently performing, does not mean that they can’t deliver with a good one-off performance if the conditions and course suit them. They don’t need to be so good to actually win. You could back them for a top 20 finish, or an each way bet in the tournament winner market, with a view to a Cash Out for a profit once the live betting is in play.

Betting on Golf Offers

There are some great offers and promotions that you can use when gambling on golf. Here are some of our favourites.

Free Bet Mondays at Betstorm

betstorm logo

There’s no reason to hate Mondays when you have a Betstorm account. If you deposit £50 or more on a Monday using the code FBM and then place a £50 qualifying  bet, you will receive a £20 free bet. Acca Loyalty at BoyleSports

boylesports logo

Free Bet For 2nd or 3rd Place at QuinnBet

logo quinnbet

They will refund the stake up to a maximum of £10.

Biggest Golf Tournaments & Events

In this section we’re going to take a look at the biggest golf events that are available to bet on at online bookmakers.

PGA Tour

The PGA Tour is the biggest golfing tour in the world. With a regular schedule of tournaments throughout the year, which are mainly based in USA, PGA Tour golf betting is heavily featured at online bookmakers. Along with the main tour, which involves many of the world’s best golfers, there are also the PGA Tour Champions (for players aged 50 or over) and spin-off tours in Canada, Latin America, and China.

Major events include RBC Heritage golf betting, The Players Championship, Valspar Championship, the FedEx Cup, Houston Open and the Presidents Cup. In recent years the supremacy of the PGA Tour has been threatened by the creation of LIV Golf, a rival tour which has persuaded many top players to join, with huge contracts.

European Tour

Outside of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, the biggest tour is the European Tour. Officially known as the PGA European Tour, the majority of events are held within Europe, as you’d expect, but occasionally there are some tournaments in other parts of the world. For UK golf fans, the European Tour provides a regular schedule of conveniently timed events including the Scottish Open.

The Masters

There are four golf tournaments that are played each year which are known as the majors. They are more prestigious than regular tour events, attract a lot more attention and prize money for the players. The first major of the year is The Masters, which takes place in April at the Augusta National Golf Club.

It is the only major that is always held at the same location and has been won most often by Jack Nicklaus, who won it on six occasions. Masters golf betting is hugely popular with punters, while the players themselves compete for a $15million prize purse.

PGA Championship

The second major comes in May, in the form of the PGA Championship. Run by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America, this is the only of the majors which is not open to amateur players. Again, it is Jack Nicklaus who has the most wins with five, though he is tied with Walter Hagan. Normally hosted on the east of America, the prize money on offer is $15million.

US Open Golf

US Open golf betting comes to bookmakers in June. With a $17.5million prize fund, this is the biggest purse of all the majors. Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus have all won the US Open four times. Rotated across a number of course around the country, it is the nine-time venue Oakmont Country Club that has hosted the tournament the most often.

The Open

Founded in 1860, The Open Championship is the oldest golf tournament in the world. Also known internationally as the British Open, this is the only one of the four majors to take place outside of America, with the action taking place each year in a different coastal course within the United Kingdom.

Held in July, this tournament has the smallest prize fund of all of the majors, at $14million, but such is the history of the event, that it is one of the most prestigious to win. No golfer has yet won the tournament more often than Harry Vardon, who triumphed six times between 1896 and 1914. Open golf betting odds are available all year round, with plenty of offers available at bookmakers come tournament time.

Golf at the Olympics

After featuring in the 1900 and 1904 Olympics, the sport of golf was cut from the sporting extravaganza. It did not return until the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, when Justin Rose of Great Britain won the men’s individual gold medal. Held every four years, it is unique in that a second or third place finish is something of an achievement, resulting in a silver or bronze medal for the golfer’s nation.

Xander Schauffele is the reigning men’s gold medal holder, having won in Tokyo, where Nelly Korda triumphed in the women’s event. With the next games taking place in Paris in 2024, there’s not long to wait before Olympic golf betting returns to bookies.

Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup is one of the biggest events in golf. Held every two years, it sees a team comprised of top male American golfers, taking on their counterparts from Europe. The venue switches from one side of the Atlantic to the other for each Ryder Cup, with the 2023 event set to be held in Italy at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.

Originally a contest between Great Britain and USA, the British team was expanded into a European one in 1979. Since then, Europe has won eleven times and retained the trophy once with a tied match, while the Americans have been victorious on nine occasions.

How to Watch Live Golf Online

Many bookmakers offer live streaming services, where they show horse and greyhound racing, along with a number of different sports. Of the bookies that provide a live streaming service for sports, golf is normally on the menu. There are a number of tournaments taking place each week and though not all will be available to stream, as they have broadcast deals with TV companies, you can be assured than some events will be available.

Being able to watch a golf tournament and bet on it, all from the same website, is obviously convenient. We’d always recommend anyone that is gambling on golf, to be watching the action, as you can spot things which you’ll miss if you’re just following the scores.

Free Golf Betting Tips

Now it’s time to give you a few golf betting tips that will help your profitability at the bookies.

Tip 1: Research Pays Off

More than is the case with most sports, research can really pay off with golf. Look out for players that are creeping into form. They won’t have won a tournament, but are slowly performing better and are perhaps on the brink of taking the next step. Check out which players have performed well on certain courses in the past. There will often be a factor that means that their game is suited to that course and this will not necessarily be picked up by the bookies.

Tip 2: Check the Weather Forecast

The weather conditions can have a big impact on golfers’ chances. Some players just can’t cope when the wind is blowing strong, or the rain is pouring down. In contrast, others seem to relish these conditions and their chances are obviously increased if there’s bad weather. Regardless of where a golf tournament is being held, you will be able to get an accurate weather forecast that tells you exactly what to expect, hour-by-hour.

Tip 3: Don’t Fixate on Favourites

The favourites in golf tournaments can often be poor value. Bookmakers’ odds are based on the chances of the players’ winning an event, but can also be impacted by the amount of money that the bookies expect punters to stake on them. So a high-profile player such as Rory McIlroy or Tiger Woods for example, are bound to attract plenty of bets from casual punters that have a fun bet on players’ that they recognise, regardless of what form they’re in.

Conclusion

We hope you enjoyed our guide to golf betting sites. As you’ll have seen, there are plenty of options when it comes to sportsbooks that can be trusted to deliver on golf. Of all the golf bookies that we reviewed, our absolute favourite was Betstorm.
