UK Gambling Levy
The gambling commission and British government are expected to publish their responses on the statutory levy very soon. This will highlight responses in line with the research, education and prevention of gambling harms.
Initially, the UK government suggested that the NHS would be the main commissioner of the RET funding. However, this caused debate amongst the third sector.
Osmond went on to say: “As we approach the government’s planned announcement around the structure of the new system, it’s imperative a comprehensive prevention-led approach is prioritised, including increased investment into free, confidential support services, educational initiatives, public health campaigns and digital resources, which allow for a tailored approach for all communities across Great Britain who need our support.”
