The owners of Paddy Power and FanDuel have left a UK gambling rival trailing in their wake in the stock market over the last 12 months.
Flutter Entertainment PLC have made significant strides compared to Entain PLC. According to JPMorgan Chase & Co. analysts, the trend is very much set to continue.
The broker suggests that Flutter’s stronghold in the US market is the main reason for their strong position. From Entain’s perspective, their loss of market share is due to regulatory pressures and takeover uncertainty.
Flutter Entertainment PLC Shares
In the last year, Flutter Entertainment’s shares have gone up by 27%. Again, their ever-growing grip on the American market looks set to continue in 2024.
A listing on the New York Stock Exchange is also very much on the horizon for this year. If that is to be the case, it’ll only strengthen Flutter’s investment base.
Not only do Flutter own Paddy Power and FanDuel, their other notable brands include Betfair, PokerStars, Sky Betting & Gaming and MaxBet.
Entain’s Market Decline
Whilst Flutter Entertainment are very much on the up, Entain’s market decline has been a cause for concern. Their stock has fallen by 37% in the last year.
Regulatory pressures in the UK and Netherlands have hit them the hardest. Along with the departure of CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen in December 2023.
Entain are understood to be in talks to sell brands such as PartyPoker, Ladbrokes and BetCity. This will be done with the intention of focusing on their core markets in the UK and Germany.
The Future Of Entain
Entain are one of the biggest and most popular gambling companies in the UK. They own brands such as Ladrokes Coral, bwin, Sportingbet, BetMGM and Foxy Bingo.
Once a new CEO is appointed and the regulatory pressures are eased, a rise in stock is likely. However, with all the issues and doubts surrounding them currently it may be one step back to take two forward.
If they do sell the brands they are intending to, the focus on their core markets will really help in the long run. Until then, it’s Flutter Entertainment who will continue to leave them in their wake.
